Like many Plano residents, you may be wondering what is going on with the Collin Creek mall area that is so desperately in need of redevelopment. Fortunately, after years of languishing there is encouraging news on this front. Local developer Sam Ware has been working on plans for a fresh, new concept in the area and they have been acquiring the properties needed to bring this plan to life.

The redevelopment is currently targeted at $1 billion with a two-year development timeframe. Here is a quick look at one early concept for the project:
Interestingly, part of the plan involves opening up Spring Creek, which is currently covered by the mall’s parking lot (did you even know there was a creek under the mall? We sure didn’t!). The developer notes this could become similar to the San Antonio Riverwalk, with retail and restaurant lining the creek.
